G’Day
No fooling here, it’s official on this day. For all of us ‘over the hill . MOOC”s have been converted into GOATS ( Global Open Access Training Solutions) and now we have completed the academic farymard foursome of MOOC’s , GOATS, LAMS ( Learning Activity Management System) and DOGS (Digital Object Generating Systems).. No kidding. The future is bright, dig on in and sign up! 🙂
All GOAT courses are delivered by the local Moocman with his dog and pet Lam.
Apart from all the learning opportunities, Easter didn’t provide anything uneggspected. It was nice to have some peace and quiet on the local roads. Nothing much to report for March, except eggseptional number of raspberries, edible not verbal.
I was interested in reading the move by some Universities towards providing credentialing for MOOC’s in their various guises along with refunds from other courses (nano) if you don’t get a job within 6 months of graduating. Nano degrees seem to be the way to make some money.Cash cows maybe?
Spent some time helping with the final organisation of the DEANZ 2016 conference. Great programme with some excellent presenters.Looking forward to the event.

1.WISC online OER : Learning Objects; It says on the site that ‘Wisc Online’s 2,691 published learning objects have been viewed 22,564,779 times!’ I can believe it. There is a huge range of really useful ‘objects’ to help your students learn, revise , understand and remember. Try Newton’s Second Law of Motion for an update on your extensive knowledge of the subject.

12. The odd one out: I wombled about the Web looking for something different to read over Easter. Look no further than the Gutenberg resources. I chose MOTHER GOOSE FOR GROWN UPS as geese lay eggs and it was about the right time. With titles like: THE BLATANT BRUTALITY OF LITTLE BOW PEEP and THE COMMENDABLE CASTIGATION OF OLD MOTHER HUBBARD, what else would you need ? Fun read to wile away those leisure hours.
