January is not normally hosting an eLearnngWatch posting. However, as SoTEL 2019 is on the horizon, I thought I’d better do something other than harvest the cucumbers, beans, lettuces , tomatoes, potatoes, slugs and beetroot.

1. Defining Authentic Learning by Steve Revington. A very comprehensive overview of authentic learning with some useful charts and diagrams to enhance understanding and use.

2. Design Thinking Process and UDL Planning Tool for STEM, STEAM, Maker Education. An informative article about design thinking and how it can be adapted and improved to help students think and learn. Also incorporates an overview of universal design for learning and its relationship to design thinking through a planning tool. Worth pursuing to get some ideas and support for what you may already be doing. Also includes examples of the use of the tool.
3. From UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION (UCISA): Technology enhanced learning survey for higher education in the UK. Get some insights into what is happening with technology enhanced learning initiatives. This is a PDF download. 4. eWorks Open LMS: eWorks partners with Blackboard’s Open Source Division to support Open LMS. This is an interesting devvelopment which is focussed on the VET sector. Pretty comprehensive suite of tools to support the learner and tutor alike.

6.In case you were wondering: EdTechs and Instructional Designers:What’s the Difference? Nicely written article with some explanations and insights into the roles of Instructional designers and educational technologists. Might not fit your definition but makes for interesting reading.
7. Understanding Accessibility in Digital Learning Materials: Simply Said. This video provides a very clear, basic and simple outline of issues around accessibility and how they can be resolved; nicely done
